Every now and then you find somehing just right in the most unexpected place.
Picture, if you will, a small stuffed cat on a shelf of Christmas tree topper stars and angels in a Target store. A young, newlywed couple stands in the aisle picking the tree topper for their first Christmas together. Tensions are high – one grew up with an angel atop the tree and the other a star. Christmas happens to be a holiday strongly steeped in family importance, times a thousand, for each of them. Neither is budging. Then both of them see the small, stuffed cat. Their eyes light up. And that stuffed cat has sat atop their tree for 25 Christmases and counting.
I am rarely surprised when I find something just right where I do not expect it.
So while yes, I experienced a frisson of excitement and wonder when I found perfect, stylish shoes on the Lands’ End website, I was not surprised. Because why not? Why not while looking for a new cotton waffle blanket, would you find spring shoes rivaling top trends at lovely prices.
