I have found that the dress is the least of my financial worry when it comes to pulling together a dressy ensemble. Thanks to capitalism I can find gorge cocktail dresses at affordable price points. It is the accessories that crush my budget.
It is rather like buying a car. You can find a perfectly lovely model in the right color with enough doodads to keep you in the 21st century. However, that sunroof (insert evening bag here) or XM radio (insert stilettos here)? That will set you back $$$!!!
