I love espadrilles. The term espadrille is French and derives from the word in Occitan language, which comes from espardenya, in Catalan. In Catalan it meant a type of shoes made with espart, the Catalan name for esparto, a tough, wiry Mediterranean grass used in making rope. This Saturday we visited a new (to us) farmer’s market. There was a jazz guitarist/singer, a crab cake food truck, free face painting for kids, and fresh gourmet coffee for the adults. We walked away with yummy pickled okra and a completely addictive chive and jalapeno goat cheese spread.
