Last week I had the pleasure of being a guest of the National Theater of Scotland at the Washington, DC opening night performance of Black Watch by Gregory Burke at the Shakespeare Theatre’s Sidney Harman Hall.
Excerpt from the Shakespeare Theater website – “Viewed through the eyes of those on the ground, Black Watch reveals what it means to be part of the legendary Scottish regiment, what it means to be part of the war on terror and what it means to make the journey home again.”
The play is phenomenal – intense and thought-provoking. It was for me, an unexpected moment of clarity about war – beyond the tactics, the issues being fought for, and the outcome there exists the individual soldier. I encourage everyone to attend a performance before the cast moves on to their run in Chicago.
On a lighter note, I am compelled to remind the general population that an 8pm theater performance on a Friday night demands a certain level of dress. I fail to comprehend how anyone can think flip flops and jeans belong at an evening theater performance.
Dress: Zara (spring 2012 – similar here); Shoes: Nine West
Purse: Versace Perfume Gift w/ Purchase (old gifted to me by MIL)
Class act once again….Ps love the bag 🙂 and the blue is stunning!
