This weekend we went en famille to a friend’s house for a delightful and delicious brunch.
Planning my brunch outfit was a bit of a tricky wicket. I wanted to look fashionable but I had to be practical – going to someone’s new house, who does not have kids means your own wee darling needs to be on their best behavior. Which means they won’t. So I had to be dressed for any situation – darting after a frolicking 4 year old, sitting on the ground outside to play, managing outside eating with crockery, and managing wee darling’s exuberant interactions with another toddler guest.
I will say up front that in my mind’s eye my outfit looked better than I think the reality ended up. But it served its purpose and that is all that needs to be said on that!
Top: America Eagle Western Chambray Shirt; Pants: Jones New York Brown/Green Plaid Ankle Pants (old circa 2010); Shoes: Topshop Black Ballet Flats (similar here); Purse: Kate Spade (old circa 2009).
Here is a close up. I accessorized with sunglasses, my grandmother’s charm bracelet (adds funky style plus acts as a great distraction for the wee darling), and a bag of toys, books, and drawing supplies.
**Pictures taken at Union Market after the brunch because I still needed more caffeine!
