WHAT I’M CRAVING

Paolo Coat in Navy – Sezane $365

Loving this transitional jacket for winter to spring. The jacket is a giving chic but casual peacoat vibes. This coat will work well across the board – jeans, dresses, professional. The navy is classic and versatile.

WHAT I AM WATCHING

My husband’s best friend and one of our daughter’s godparents is an ER doc in California. We kind of think he and his wife are the coolest and when either of them recommend something or warn us off of something, we pay attention. So when the good doctor emphatically recommended The Pitt on Max, headed by Noah Wylie, we started watching. It took me three seconds to get past my memories of Noah Wylie on the tv show ER because he is so phenomenal in this role – I truly feel like he has been an ER doc in real life. The premise of each show is the progression of one hour of the reality of a day in the ER. Watching it, I recognize parts of what I am watching from our friend’s personal experience stories. It is truly agonizing that this is an old school weekly release versus being able to binge it…but maybe that is for the best.

WHAT I AM EATING

I have followed Molly Baz and her recipes for awhile. I find her to be approachably quirky. Her Instagram account is a great way to get to know her personality and her website is very straightforward – though you do need to sign up for her recipes. I am not a fan of all of her recipes but I have my favorites. Last night I made her Burnt Basque Quiche. I have my own tried and true Cheese Souffle recipe from my mother so I do not normally look for any similar recipes. However, through Instagram I learned that Molly lost her home in the LA fires and she made the Burnt Basque Quiche in her beloved home kitchen the night before they had to evacuate their home before it burned down. Well, you know I had to make it in support.

WHAT I AM DOING

Thanks to one of my super cool Mount Holyoke College alum groups I learned of a truly engaging volunteer opportunity. Part of my general malaise during my job search is not being engaged in substantive, cerebral work on a daily basis. So when I saw the opportunity to be a Citizen Archivist for the National Archives I literally salivated. They are looking for folks to help interpret cursive writing for them to digitize. It is super straightforward how to work in the system once you register and review the Youtube “how to” video. Maybe I am weird, but boy is it fascinating to read the old documents — right now I am working on Revolutionary War Pension files and believe it or not they are fascinating. 🙂

WHAT I AM READING

It is absolutely no surprise to anyone that my dream is to live in Paris. The love of my life gets me unique Paris-related gifts on the regular, and for Christmas this year, he gave me the book Paris: A Short History by Jeremy Black. I love that he found this for me. My favorite museum in Paris is the Musée Carnavalet. Founded in 1880 to preserve Parisian architectual heritage, it is a treasure trove of visual history of the city from the ground up. This book is a brilliant written counterpart…until my next trip to Paris.
