I am not sure whether I should share this with you but here goes….
I am addicted to Netflix’s new original series Orange is the New Black.
I watch a lot of Hulu Plus and Netflix on my iPad while I putter around the house. It is so much more productive then plopping down in front of the television. We ended up putting our big flat screen in the basement rec room and cancelled our cable. Now we watch movies on the television for family movie night.
So I have really supported Netflix’s focus on original programming – House of Cards rocked. But when I heard the premise for Orange I was a bit meh.
Orange Is the New Black revolves around Piper Chapman, an engaged woman from Connecticut, who is sent to the women’s Litchfield, CT federal prison for possessing a suitcase full of drug money for Alex Vause, an international drug smuggler and Chapman’s one-time lover. Sentenced to serve a fifteen-month sentence, Chapman must survive the hardships of prison life, as she may have to be a different person to do so. (Wikipedia)
But I had houseguests for whom I needed to clean so I tuned in and toodled through my chores.
I don’t know why but this is an enormously engaging show. The cast is really good. The pace is fast. And yes there are several stereotypical moments but there is also some good substance.
Besides, the cast includes some of my faves – Jason Biggs, Laure Prepon, Kate Mulgrew, and Natasha Lyonne.
So what do you think?!
